Top 3 trends for 2011: New Years Series Part 2
Here at Ultraspeed while we can certainly say we provide some of the best Managed Hosting services on the market – we can’t lay claim to predicting the future. Which is why we’ve asked some of the our friends and clients who are doing wonderful things in the online world to let us know what they think are the top three things to look out for in 2011.
In the second part of the New Years Series, Claudie Plen of Edge Thinking kindly shares her top 3 online tools to look out for in 2011.
1. Online Privacy:
I’m pleased to note the rise of new privacy based social networks, a backlash on Facebook’s policies on ownership and information sharing. Diaspora might be the first real competition to Facebook for people who value their privacy and intellectual property.
2. Location, location, location
I’m also quite interested in realtime location based networks too, such as Like Ourselves. More about encouraging on AND offline networking culture compared to Facebook and Foursquare’s ‘checking in’ technology.
3. New LinkedIn tools
LinkedIn’s beta job finder is changing the way people look for jobs and recruit. I’ve always thought that finding a new job should be about growing your network rather than relying on job ads, so this makes perfect sense as a development of their functionality, I’m interested to see how it grows!
